Constructing a Drop Leaf Table with Four Spindle Legs

 

Immerse Yourself and Acquire Machining Proficiencies! Delight in twenty-four lab hours of woodworking. This experience is for the beginner through the amateur. Trainers will demonstrate and then guide you through various joinery construction techniques. Then you will learn about furniture joinery and using stationary tools in producing curved and turned pieces.

 

The following are specific woodworking technologies presented.

  • Planning a project
  • Surfacing wood to the desired thickness while creating two parallel faces
  • Learning about table aprons and stretchers
  • Duplicating on a lathe from a template
  • Creating an arc
  • Routing a drop leaf table edge
  • Machining Mortise and Tenon joints
  • Producing wooden joints
  • Installing drop leaf table top hardware

 

Class for AGES 12 and UP or School's Permission

Class # SPI-603

A certificate is awarded upon class completion

Prerequisites:

    SPI-600, 601
    NO materials or tools needed.

 

The class takes twenty-four hours in eight hour blocks of time over a three-day period encompassing a Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Days and times may be altered depending on the circumstances.

 

FEES:
Tuition $725.00 + Laboratory $200.00 + Materials (solid stock) $97.00 = $1022.00 and you keep the project.
