Producing a Three-Legged  Shaker Table

 

Gain Confidence and Learn New Skills! Enjoy twenty-four hours of woodworking. This experience is for the beginner through the amateur. Trainers are noted for their tips and hints allowing you to produce a better project. The class familiarizes you with wood technology, furniture construction techniques, safe machine operation and tool set sharpening.

 

The following are specific woodworking technologies presented.

  • Interpreting plans
  • Selecting wood species
  • Recognizing machining characteristics of selected wood species
  • Laying out project parts patterns to maximize wood usage
  • Squaring wood with a Jointer, Surfacer and Saw
  • Using a Bandsaw to create arcs and circles
  • Developing curved edges (profiles) with a router bit
  • Producing flat surfaces on a spindle with a rotary planer
  • Selecting the correct glue (adhesive) and applying
  • Learn correct clamping techniques
  • Choosing the proper sanding paper
  • Mastering finishes and finishing

 

 

 

 

Class for AGES 12 and UP or Instructor's Permission

A certificate is awarded upon class completion

NO prerequisites; NO background in woodworking; NO materials required; NO tools needed

 

The class takes twenty-four hours in eight hour blocks of time over a three-day period encompassing a Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Days and times may be altered depending on the circumstances.

 

Fees:
Tuition $575.00 + Laboratory $75.00 + Materials (Solid Stock) $25.00 = $675.00 and you keep the project.
