Safety, Lathe and Table Saw Assists

 

Do It Faster . . . Better . . . Yet Safely! This sixteen lab hours of developing and producing will allow you to return to your shop with several items designed to improve your personal safety. The trainer will assist you in preparing devices for your lathe and table saw that will hold your tools, keep your hands away from rotating blades all to improve your safety and accuracy when making a project.

 

The following are specific woodworking technologies presented.

  • Learn how to identify the need for a fixture or jig
  • Acquire the knowledge to develop a fixture or jig through problem solving
  • Identify what stable material you need for a jig or fixture
  • Manufacture a series of jigs and fixtures
  • Create safe attachments methods for a jig or fixture
  • Operate a jig or fixture successfully

 

 

Class for AGES 14 and UP or with consent of the instructor

Class # SPI-627

A certificate is awarded upon class completion

Prerequisites:

    SPI-600, 601, 603 or consent of instructor.

    NO materials or tools needed.

 

The class takes sixteen hours in eight hour blocks of time over a two-day period encompassing a Saturday and Sunday. Days and times may be altered depending on the circumstances. Check with the Academy office for further information. See the calendar for dates or call for unannounced times.

 

FEES:
Tuition $525.00 + Laboratory $225.00 + Materials $97.00 = $847.00 and you keep the project.
